GirlJam is an all-female band that performs an eclectic mix of great rock from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, with a few originals thrown in.
The group started in 2012 as an informal, women-only jam session hosted by Laine Harmon, providing an opportunity for female musicians to play together in a supportive environment. When bass player Susie Duncan scored an actual gig for the group, infighting began before a setlist was even put together. This resulted in the formation of the original GirlJam band, featuring Laine on uke, Susie on bass, and Beth Borrus and Ceclia Diaz on guitar and vocals. Shortly afterward, the band was joined by Vicki Schwartz on violin.
Several years down the road, Laine and Cecelia have left the band, but continue to be loyal fans. Drummer Amy Armant joined GirlJam in 2018, replacing Rachel Lally who left for South Africa, ushering the band into its newest, most successful, and most rocking phase.
GirlJam has played a number of local venues, from the Montgomery Farmers’ Market to the Crossroads to Hopewell Valley Vineyards. We serve up an exciting variety of songs, from the music of the British Invasion to Brazilian rock, but the emphasis is always on fun! Come join us for Girls’ Night Out!
